I was born in Berlin, Germany, studied fashion design and arrived in the USA in 1959 and lived on Long Island, NY. There I took an art course at the famous art school in Westport, CT under the tutorage of Norman Rockwell, Robert Fawcett, Ben Stahl and others.
Since moving to Bradenton/Sarasota in 1997, I started painting seriously, mainly in oil. I took courses at the Manatee and Sarasota Art Centers and developed my impressionistic style of painting flowers, landscapes, seascapes, portraits and playful children.
Living in Florida, painting with strong colors seems to be a given. In studying past and present artists, I felt that the style I was most motivated to follow and develop was the impressionistic period and I hope my paintings speak to you.
I have also been experimenting with abstracts and it gives me a feeling of breaking out of the borders of my own setting.
