The landscape paintings of Charles Townsend often focus on the many moods of nature: mists, hazy afternoons over water, emerging daylight, early evening color, nocturnes, etc. He uses glazing, overpainting, and subtle color blending to achieve a personal statement of the subject matter.
Townsends’ background includes study at the University of Vermont, Rhode Island School of Design, and the School of Visual Arts, New York. He is a past faculty member of the Longboat Key Center for the Arts, and has conducted a number of workshops in Vermont and Florida. He has had a number of solo shows in New England and Florida galleries.
