Joanna Coke brings her talent to the Studio at Gulf and Pine in February with a solo exhibit, a watercolor demo and a 3-day watercolor workshop.
Joanna combines various water media on paper with strong use of color to create vibrant floral and landscape paintings in her exhibition entitled, Flora & Terra. Her interpretation of realism for these subjects have a dream-like quality and will be on display February 9th through March 3rd.
Joanna will demo watercolor painting on Thursday February 8th from 3 to 4 pm.
Learn to paint Beach Palms and Vegetation February 21-23 in Joanna’s three-day, watercolor workshop. Participants will learn how to draw the structure of different vegetation before painting, how to create depth through mixing warm and cool greens, and how to increase the range of values where it counts.
Class size is limited to 12 for maximum instructional assistance. Cost for the 3 day workshop is $295 and includes lunch daily as well as morning and afternoon snacks from the Sandbar Restaurant. Class will meet from 9:30 to 3:30 each day.
Joanna’s previous working careers have been as a graphic designer and fashion designer. In her academic pursuits, Joanna received an Associates in Arts from Harvard University along with two bachelor degrees from the University of South Florida in Art Education and Fine Arts, Painting. She completed her art degrees at Louisiana State University with a Master of Fine Arts, Painting. She studied art abroad in Paris in 2000 and in Venice, Rome and Florence in 2004. In 2009, Joanna participated in a cross-cultural exhibit and workshops at the University in Novgorod, Russia. In 2012, Joanna coordinated and instructed workshops in Santa Fe, New Mexico and St. Augustine, Florida. In 2015, she instructed an art tour in Tuscany, Italy. And in November 2017, Joanna instructed an art tour in Cuba.
Joanna established her fine arts studio in Nokomis, Florida in 2005, giving private lessons as well as teaching classes. She has exhibited her artworks in New York, NY and Berlin, Germany and continues to participate in national juried shows. Joanna also juries shows and demonstrates nationally at watercolor conventions throughout the U.S.
